Chaplaincy

Contact Details

Chaplain: Erica Butler

Pastoral Care Officer, SCU Chaplaincy Services: Erica Butler

Chaplaincy offers a listening ear and a welcoming presence on campus. If you need someone to talk to, Chaplaincy might be a first port of call.

Given that culture and faith are closely linked in the hearts and minds of many, this campus sees the necessity of providing for the spiritual needs of all.

Do you know we have some quiet spaces where you can spend quality time meditating, praying or simply hanging out? We have a Reflection Room, a Sacred Garden and a Labyrinth and of course many grassed and lightly treed spaces.

You can find out more about these from Erica Butler, or by checking the listing at http://scu.edu.au/students under Multi-faith and Chaplaincy.

If you need information about connecting with those of a similar spiritual belief as yourself check with Chaplaincy, which is multifaith. We may be able to assist.

If you would like a leader from your church or spiritual group to visit campus please see me and I may be able to organize that person to become a visiting chaplain.

If you have any ideas, events or issues you would like to work through with Chaplaincy, please contact me. Pastoral care for all is our goal.

Sacred Garden

The Sacred Garden (pictured above) has been set aside as a sacred space of stillness for contemplation, reflection, and prayer. It provides a unique space for those who choose to refresh mind, body and spirit.

The Sacred Garden is located between Blocks C and D.

Campus Reflection Room

Room B.1.29 is set aside as a quiet space for prayer, meditation, reading and study by individuals or small groups. It is available when B block is open. If someone is already there, do not disturb them. To book the room, write your name, contact info and the time slot you would like on the calendar by the door, or contact erica.butler@scu.edu.au

Parents' Retreat

Room F.LG.04 is set aside as a Parents' Retreat. This room is available to staff and students of the campus, and includes a Baby Changing Station.

Please pick up the key from the SCU Student Association Office (lower ground, F Block at the bus bay).

Labyrinth

The campus stone labyrinth is found among the trees below D Block Theatre. A labyrinth is a circle with a single path that winds into a central space and back out again. They have been used in many cultural and religious settings as an aid to prayer, reflection and meditation. The labyrinth is a chance to pause, to draw aside from busyness and pressure and move towards a place of quietness. This can settle body, mind and spirit and bring awareness of what really matters to you. Then, as you retrace your steps away from the centre you bring this back to your everyday world. Information on using the labyrinth for prayer or meditation is available from the Reflection Room or from the SCU web-site.

GP Services

Due to the limited uptake of the GP service on Coffs Harbour Education Campus, it has been decided that we would discontinue the on campus service.

CHC Medical Centre will continue to offer our campus priority bulk billing service if you outline that you are a staff member from CHEC. At present, there is only one GP that offers bulk billing service at CHC Medical. For further enquiry please contact CHC Medical.

Alternatively, we recognise that there are other GP bulk billing services in the local area that you may be interested in exploring.

Following are a list of GP's that bulk bill and others that bulk bill for certain patients.

Bulk Billing GPs:
